Ramler Furniture appointed as Official Provider for Melbourne 2006

Ramler Furniture, the Melbourne-based leader in the Australian furniture industry, was today announced as an Official Provider for the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games.

Appointed to deliver and install furniture throughout the Athletes Village in Parkville, the International Broadcast Centre and at various venue sites throughout Melbourne, Ramler also plans to provide their unique range of environmentally friendly cardboard furniture to fulfill other Games’ requirements.

Boasting a strong heritage of association with high-profile, large-scale international events, Ramler has successfully facilitated the provision of furniture for the Athens 2004 Olympic Games and the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, receiving the AIPM 2001 Project Management Achievement Award for this work.

Paul Ramler, CEO Ramler Furniture, believes the company’s experience, dedicated team and recent success in both Athens and Sydney, attributed to their selection as the sole furniture provider for Melbourne’s highly anticipated sporting spectacular.

“This prestigious project will once again provide us with the opportunity to demonstrate our abilities to successfully manage large, multi-site projects to a world-class standard,” said Ramler.

“With more than 4,500 elite athletes taking centre stage in Melbourne next March, we have established a specialist project group to manage the procurement and logistics for over 200,000 different items, from safes to folding tables, filing cabinets to wardrobes.”

Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games Corporation Chief Executive Officer, Mr John Harnden, welcomed Ramler Furniture’s involvement with the Games.

“We’re delighted to welcome Ramler Furniture to the Melbourne 2006 Sponsor Family”, Mr Harnden said.

“Their award-winning expertise and outstanding history in large-scale, international events will stand us in great stead for the biggest sporting and cultural event Melbourne has ever hosted.”

Ramler is already in the process of supplying furniture to Games’ Broadcasters and will soon outfit the Games Village and venues with high quality furniture and equipment.

Ramler is also planning to provide their unique range of environmentally friendly cardboard furniture, including rubbish bins and press pigeon holes, products that will be recycled after the Games providing an ideal closed-loop, environmental solution.

Ramler Furniture has completed many landmark projects around Australia, including recent installations at Westfield Bondi Junction, Sydney Exhibition and Convention Centre, the MCG – Northern Stand and the Perth Convention Centre.

The Games will be a once-in-a-lifetime chance to witness 4500 elite athletes from 71 nations taking part in the XVIII Commonwealth Games to be held from 15-26 March 2006.
