The Gold Coast Commonwealth Games are complete and yet the job has just begun
The Gold Coast Commonwealth Games are complete and yet the job has just begun.
On the 15th of April 2018 the success of the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games came to an end, athletes had completed their events, the Closing Ceremony was over, and the media directed their attention to other global sporting events.
The Games were finished, contracts were being closed, but as is always the case, RGS Events was just starting to ramp up our operations. As the saying goes, what goes up must come down, or in our case, what goes in must come out.
After 34 days battling closing contracts, inclement weather, tired bodies and tight timelines, RGS Events successfully completed the bump out of the Athletes Village.
The Games are long gone but the legacy lives on – 7,000 beds found a resting place in Papua New Guinea, 25,000 black folding chairs are being sat on in the UK and 7,000 mattresses and 14,000 pillows are being slept on by backpackers from across the world visiting our beautiful country.
Fast forward to today, and with all our learnings from the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and other past Olympic and Commonwealth Games, RGS Events is working on many new aspects of our product and service offer for our future clients. From significant sustainability developments to both product and packaging together with product advancements, we are working tirelessly to be ready for the next big event and look forward to sharing more of our journey with everyone soon.
