Bump In at Tokyo 2020

Recently RGS Events began our long-awaited Bump In operations at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic & Paralympic Games. This has been a project like no other for RGS, having been awarded a contract to supply Overlay FF&E to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics right before the Covid-19 outbreak began.

Even through the significant challenges that Covid-19 brought to manufacturing and shipping globally in the early stages of 2020, we managed to finish production and deliver all the FF&E for Tokyo 2020 within the originally agreed timeframe. Our promise to deliver the right product, to the right place and at the right time was upheld at a time when it seemed almost impossible to achieve.

Fast forward to 2021 and we were faced with a new challenge. We were advised that due to Covid-19 restrictions in Japan, our highly experienced project management team, who are currently based in Australia, would not be able to travel to Japan to oversee the bump in operations. Thanks to advanced technology coupled with a significant amount of past games experience, RGS provided oversight to our incredibly talented local Japanese team led by Mari Nakajima and a fantastic logistics partner in Schenker-Seino. We have been able to plan and oversee the Bump-In Operations for Tokyo 2020 from our head office in Melbourne, Australia.

The Tokyo 2020 Olympics has shown that nothing is impossible, and our team cannot wait to sit back and watch the Opening Ceremony in a few short weeks and celebrate a Games that many thought would never happen.
